Terms of Use · Cheep

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Cheep command-line tool (“Cheep”), provided by Mehmet Ali Turushan Aktay (“we”, “our”, or “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use Cheep.

2. Open-Source License

Cheep is open-source software under the MIT License. The license, not these Terms, governs your rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the software, and its source code is published on GitHub. These Terms cover the builds and instructions we publish and this website.

3. What Cheep Does

Cheep is an unofficial command-line client for the Namecheap API. It runs the commands you type, or that your scripts and AI agents run, against your own Namecheap account: it checks domains, reads prices and account details, changes DNS through whole-zone plans and calls any method in Namecheap’s API catalog, including methods that register, renew or transfer domains and charge your account.

4. Your Responsibility

You choose what Cheep does. Commands that change your account or spend money run only with the flags that approve them, and once you pass those flags, the change and any charge are yours. Namecheap’s own terms apply to your account and to everything Cheep does through its API. Review plans and dry runs before you apply them, keep your API key secret, and give AI agents --readonly unless they must make changes.

5. Privacy

Your privacy is important. Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data. It forms part of these Terms.

6. Disclaimers

Cheep is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that a domain is available, that a price stays the same between a check and a purchase, or that Namecheap accepts or completes a request. Cheep is unofficial: Namecheap does not make, endorse or support it. Features may change. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including damages from a domain registration, renewal or transfer, a DNS change or a charge made through it, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Cheep in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.

8. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany. You agree to resolve any disputes through the courts of Hamburg, Germany, unless local consumer protection laws offer you additional rights.

9. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms. We will announce significant changes on this page or in the app before they take effect, and update the date above.

10. Miscellaneous

These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the open-source license form the entire agreement between you and us. If any part is found invalid, the rest remains enforceable. You may not transfer these Terms without our permission.
